Instructions on Consular Legalization

Documents issued in Samoa to be used in China for civil use and commercial use must be legalized by the Chinese Embassy in Samoa.

 

Before submitting a legal document to the Chinese Embassy for legalization, the applicant must have the document notarized by a local Notary Public Office in Samoa and then certificated by either the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Samoa or the Supreme Court of Samoa.

 

After the above has been done, the following documents are required to be submitted to the Chinese Embassy in Samoa by the applicant for legalization:

1. A duly-filled Application Form of Consular Legalization of the Embassy/Consulate of the People's Republic of China. (Downla

2. Original and photocopy of the legal documents to be legalized. If one document has 2 pages and above, it must be stapled properly and sealed and stamped by the Notary Public Office.

3. Both original and photocopy of the applicant's passport and agent's passport for civil and commercial legalization purpose.

4. If the applicant entrusts someone else to apply for consular legalization of a document, both original and photocopy of the passport or photo ID of the entrusted person should also be submitted. In some special cases, an entrusted letter signed by the applicant or issued by the corporate is also required.

5 Copies of passports of the parents and the child and birth certificate of the child should be submitted if the documents is power of attorney of children's fosterage.

6. Registration certificate of the corporate and photocopy of the passport of the fictitious person should be submitted if the document is concerning company business.

 

Important note:

1.The Embassy has the right to request other supplementary supporting documents .

2. All the payment made to the Chinese Embassy in Samoa must be in Samoan Tala in cash.
